Further, the backstory of Barry Delaney wearing a green dress was more emotional as he confirmed they had made a pact months before Kevin Elliot’s passing.
During the funeral speech, Delaney emotionally describes them as brothers who were ready to do anything for each other.
He also mentioned their promise to each other: “We said that whoever died first, the other one had to wear a pink dress with green spots to the funeral – and we shook on it. It was mainly his idea, and the more I think about it, I’m sure Kevin knew something was going to happen.“

Kevin Elliott was a British army officer who lost his life in Afghanistan during the war!
Kevin Elliot and Barry Delaney had been close friends for a long time; however, due to Kevin Elliott’s profession as a soldier, he often had to leave the country to serve in the war.
After completing the Helmand tours, the friends met to share their stories and journeys, and Delaney complained to Elliott about the ongoing financial crisis and unemployment.
On the other hand, Kevin Elliot shared being terrified by Afghanistan after his recent visits to Helmand, where the situation was getting deadlier by the week and innumerable booby traps.

Analyzing the situation, he sensed that if he went to Helmand, one of the 34 provinces of Afghanistan, he would never be able to return.
His Captain, Harry Gladstone, also confirmed that Kevin Elliot wanted to quit the army after serving in Iraq and Northern Ireland. However, he did not want to let his friends down and agreed to do one more tour to Afghanistan.
Just eight weeks after their meeting, Kevin Elliot passed away on 31 August 2009, at age 24, in the Babaji district, Helmand province, where he was on foot patrol and got into an explosion caused by a rocket-propelled grenade.
