Remembering Cole Kelly as a professional baseball player and later as a coach!
Cole Kelly was born in Sugar Land, Texas, and grew up in a close-knit, active family. Similar to him, both of his parents were former college athletes from Iowa. Additionally, his parents raised him to have a strong work ethic.
In a personal statement, he wrote, “Hard work has always been a central theme in our home and I have been fortunate to live by a set of principles that I use as a guide for my personal behavior.”
Moreover, he has been passionate about baseball ever since he was a kid and would spend countless hours playing baseball in his yard. That was until he joined the Ford Bend Texans.
As a player of the Fort Bend Texans, Cole Kelly was a key team member, contributing to its success almost every year. He joined the team 2007 and was very athletic for a new player.
Then, in 2012, he attended Austin High School and joined the freshman team as a starter, wearing jersey No. 9. Next year, the coach promoted him to the junior varsity team, winning his first individual award for best hitter.
Furthermore, in 2014, the coach advanced him to the varsity team. That year, his team placed third in the district, and he earned All-District Honorable Mention.
However, in the next two years, neither Cole Kelly, a resident of Houston, nor his team managed to get any awards.
Additionally, 2014 was his final year as a baseball player, and he decided to retire after that. Following that, he started as a coach for the Fort Bend Texans from May 2015 to August 2017.
