Cody Page, a resident of Saginaw, Michigan, went missing in 2016 after failing to return home from school. The officers came together to locate him, who was found over 2,000 miles away from his residence.
Before Cody Page went missing, he had been living with his grandmother, as his mother had lost custody of him when he was a young child. On 15th March 2016, he had gone to school and asked one of his friends if he could borrow their phone.
Afterward, the 16-year-old called an unknown number and left the school. He did not appear at his house that afternoon, which made his grandmother worried. Later, his foster parents approached the authorities to file a missing person report.
At the time, they were unsure if Cody had run away or something had happened to him. They spent over a year trying to locate him but were unable to find much that would help identify him.
Additionally, he continued using his social media even after disappearing. Therefore, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children traced his Facebook posts and discovered that he had been living in a house at Twentynine Palms, California.
Without wasting any time, law enforcement went to the house to find him; however, when they arrived, Cody had already left the residence. Later, the authorities alerted the locals to report it to them if they identified Cody.
Similarly, local media shared the news, and soon, his face was all over the television.
Cody Page was found after getting a tip from a clerk at Motel 6 in Palm Springs, California!
On March 22, 2017, Palm Springs police received a call from an employee at Motel 6, saying he might have seen Cody Page. The officers rushed to the location, where they finally identified him at 8:30 am.
In addition to Cody, they also found his biological mother near the area, who cooperated with the Detectives. The authorities continued their investigation and found that the 16-year-old was not the victim of a crime.
According to his mom, the minor had contacted her through Facebook after running away from his residence due to a bad foster situation. Afterward, he traveled to Palm Springs to live with his mom.
Cody’s mother wanted to continue to live with her son, but she did not have legal custody. As a result, the officers decided to send him back to his grandmother.
Later, his mom revealed that she was exploring her legal options to keep her son.
