Three-time Emmy-Award-winning journalist and KCAL news anchor Chauncy Glover is no longer alive. He recently passed away at the age of 39.
Born on July 10, 1985, in Athens, Alabama, Chauncy caught a bug for journalism at the very young age of 5. According to KTRK’s biography, his dad even organized a ‘mini anchor desk’ for him to perform like a journalist in front of his family members every Sunday after church.
That interest slowly became a passion, leading him to attend Troy University in Alabama to study broadcast journalism, music, and theater. He eventually pursued his journalism career, joining WTVM in Columbus, GA, in his 20s.
After that, he never looked back and continued to achieve more & more in his professional endeavors.
Over the years, he worked as a special projects and general assignment reporter at CBS47 and Fox 30 in Jacksonville, Florida, and as a reporter at WDIV Local 4 Detroit and ABC13 Houston before joining CBS Los Angeles stations KCBS 2 and KCAL9 as a co-anchor.
The busy life he created as a journalist might be why Chauncy Glover never considered marriage or having a romantic partner. He never publicly admitted anyone as his girlfriend or his wife.
Well, his birth family and working mate were all he had for support his entire life, and they survived him.
Chauncy Glover was so close to ABC13 Houston reporter Mayra Moreno and often referred to her as his ‘working wife’
Reporter Chauncy Glover never married personally, but he often confused his fans concerning his relationship with his KTRK co-host, Mayra Moreno.
Since the two were working together, they developed a deep bond, and as a result, Chauncy started calling Mayra his working wife.
But, everything between them became suspicious for his viewers when Chauncy Glover shared a post with his professional partner, captioning,
Later, he reportedly clarified that Mayra would always be his working wife and that there would be nothing more than that between them. Over the years, he shared several posts on his social media, referring to Mayra as his best work wifey.
When he was leaving ABC 13 to join the KCAL news Anchor team in 2023, he highly regarded the support he got from his co-host and work wife Mayra and said,
During his farewell, Mayra’s eyes were full of tears. Later, she jokingly called Chauncy her ‘ex’ while congratulating him on his new journey with KCAL in Los Angeles.
Now, as Chauncy Glover has bid goodbye to the world, his working partner Mayra is extremely heartbroken.
On November 6, 2024, she shared some beautiful pictures with Chauncy on her Instagram and wrote, “An unexpected loss. My heart is broken. @chauncyglover ! 🕊️.”
