Despite constant efforts from the Connecticut community and his family, Stephen Morin wasn’t located after missing for 48 hours. However, tragic news befell the family this holiday season soon after.
According to a Facebook post from Stephen Morin’s sister, Amy Morin, he had been missing since around 9 p.m. on December 9. Stephen had left his girlfriend’s home in Hamden.
Moreover, he was supposedly on his way home but had switched off his phone on the road. Such an unusual action concerned the family as they continuously tried to contact him.
Amy mentioned that the victim was driving a 2015 black Mercedes-Benz E350 with the license plate BK09826 with tints.
His sister explained that the family had exhausted all their resources for the police complaint and search team. However, investigators failed to discover any substantial evidence for over 24 hours.
Additionally, the Hamden Police Department worked closely with the family, and Stephen had been officially listed as a missing person. Amy stated that her brother wasn’t involved in suspicious business prior to disappearing.
Stephen was looking forward to spending the holidays with his children and girlfriend. His birthday was coming up on December 13, and the victim had planned a dinner with his family.
However, 29 hours into the search, such plans seemed far from fulfilled; the police hadn’t discovered any unusual credit card activities or Stephen’s location.
A ray of positive light hit the family when officials spotted his car in Southington from the traffic footage. However, Amy explained that they didn’t have any family in the area and that the route didn’t lead to their home in Meriden.
Hamden Police Department detective left Stephen Morin’s case unattended for out-of-town training!
As the case progressed, Amy’s post received mass attention on social media, as many users volunteered to help with the search. However, others doubted that the case might be a scam.
Moreover, Amy had traveled to New York while her brother was missing and promoted her business. Many assumed that posting about her brother was a way to gain engagement.
Later, she clarified the situation through an elaborate post, saying, “I’m very real. This is very real. So if someone doesn’t have something nice to say… can you please just leave me and my family alone!“
With hourly updates from Stephen’s sister, many suggested the family hire a private investigator. The state police had left the case due to external training and did not inform the family.
Similarly, authorities extensively searched bodies of water between Stephen and his girlfriend’s home. Despite police involvement, no local news channel had picked up the case.
Sadly, after the official 48-hour mark, Stephen was found unresponsive near his last location. Amy shared the news through Facebook with her followers, eager for a positive update.
She wrote, “He’s been found. Pray for our family. It’s going to be the worst holiday EVER.” Soon, heartfelt messages poured for the grieving family as many promised emotional and financial support.
Similarly, his partner expressed, “RIP! You will always have my heart. I loved this man like no other.“
