French culture and fashion figure Michèle Lamy was born in Jura, France, on February 5, 1944.
Following the footsteps of her grandfather, who made accessories for Paul Poiret, the most popular French couturier, Michèle Lamy set up her own fashion line, Lamy, in Los Angeles in 1979.
In 1996, she also ran two cult restaurants and nightclubs with her first husband, Richard Newton, whom she had married in 1990.
