After the 2024 Presidential Election results, Jimmy Kimmel presented an emotional monologue to the audience, hinting that he might be leaving his show. However, the host hasn’t confirmed the rumors surrounding his long-running program.
Jimmy Kimmel has been working on air for over two decades and admitted that the spotlight often hinders his personal life. The host confessed that he’s been thinking about leaving his gig after his latest contract with ABC network ends.
During an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Kimmel added, “I think this is my final contract. I hate even to say it, because everyone’s laughing at me now. I still have more than two years left on my contract, which seems like enough.“
Moreover, the host mentioned that the thought had crossed his mind several times, including when preparing for the Academy Awards. The constant hard work and late-night script writing made him yearn for days when his contract had expired.
Regarding his retirement plan, Kimmel detailed his interest in learning Italian in his free time, playing the harmonica, and fly fishing. The list didn’t end for the comedian, who has signed an agreement with the network until 2026.
Kimmel performed a skit after Trump’s win, hinting at his exit from the entertainment industry. The clip featured the host packing his things on the Late Night set and stating, “I’m leaving the country. I can’t stay for another 4 years to Trump, who knows what’s he going to do.“
However, Jimmy Kimmel addressed the fans’ concerns and claimed he wouldn’t leave the show or the country anytime soon. The host added that the video was made purely for entertainment purposes.

Previously, Kimmel addressed Trump on his show after the politician attended a podcast with the Nelk Boys. The politician had steered the conversation towards the show and called the host a loser.
Trump added that the host often met him in the sidewalks before the shows and invited him to the stage. However, Kimmel mentioned that the politician had been recalling made-up stories on shows.
Similarly, Kimmel stated that his show’s guests don’t come in from the sidewalk. Instead, they walk the stage through the alley in the back. The host hadn’t stood outside the studio to greet Trump or other celebrities.

The host disrespected the politician and disregarded Trump’s Walk of Fame in Hollywood. Kimmel requested the politician take an intelligence test against Kamala Harris and added, “I will for sure roll out the burnt orange carpet and meet him on Hollywood Boulevard.“
Additionally, Kimmel included several jabs at Trump during the Presidential campaign despite receiving constant criticism from the Republicans. Many claimed the host had communicated biased views through his show and called for its cancellation.
