In September 2022, Cleveland woman Brittany Barksdale was accused and charged with the reckless homicide of her 10-year-old nephew Cayden Williams.
Almost a year after her indictment, Brittany took to her Twitter handle and tweeted, ‘Hey, I miss y’all! #FreeMe,’ along with a few pictures of herself, where she appeared pretty chill.
It’s been just a day since she shared a tweet, and it has already gotten over 12 million views, inviting her a lot of backlashes.
In the comment section, many criticized her for her tweet, leaving comments like, “They need to keep your stupid ass in there til the day you die,” “A fat ass and a cute face with be the end of yall n*ggas she probably lock up for eating a n*gga face 🤣💯,” “All these mfs in the replies thirsting over a child killer. Likewise, on October 15, 2024, a Twitter user named Terril shared Brittany’s tweet and exposed her background, writing, “She k*lled her 10-yo nephew. Prosecutors indicted Brittany Barksdale, of Cleveland, for reckless homicide in Cuyahoga County court.”
As a result, Brittany Barksdale garnered wide criticism, probably for her insensitivity of a way to ask for her freedom after snatching a life from a 10-year-old just a year back.
The incident where Brittany Barksdale’s nephew Cayden lost his life in an accidental firearm occurred in June 2023
It was June 6, 2024, when Brittany Barksdale’s minor nephew, Cayden Williams, lost his life to the firearm at his home on East 77th Street near Donald Avenue.
In the meantime, Brittany allegedly used the firearm, then the bullet passed through the ceiling and struck Cayden, who was reportedly enjoying his time inside his bedroom.
Later, while detailing the incident, Cleveland Police said in the press conference, “We observed one bullet hole in the living room ceiling that traveled to the second floor, through a mirror, and into the ceiling on the second floor.”

Authorities also discovered a boy “lying on his back and feet towards a mirror with a g*nshot wound to the left side of the lower part of his head,” Fox8 reports.
Following the incident, when police took Brittany Barksdale into custody, she was full of tears and fighting back. On September 22, 2024, Jim Nelson, a news reporter for King 5 News, released the part of the video cam where police handcuffed Brittany.
