Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea is still alive but bassist of Judge Nothing’s Flea Bodine passed away!
Following the demise of bassist Flea Bodine of the band Judge Nothing on October 1, 2024, many confused him with the bassist of Red Hot Chili Peppers Flea, who is very much alive.
The confusion arose due to the fact that they both shared the same name and were both bassists in the band.
Nevertheless, the 61-year-old legendary bassist Michael Peter Balzary, aka Flea, is still alive, uploading his vacation pictures on his Instagram stories.
So, a single glance at his Instagram account is alone enough to tell Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea is healthy, alive, and enjoying his life.
On the other hand, Mont Bodine, who went by the stage name Flea Bodine, has indeed passed away. He was the bassist for the band Judge Nothing, a 1990’s pop-punk group from Alton, Illinois.
According to The Common Reader, Flea Bodine was a celebrated rock musician who discovered his passion for playing bass guitar.
Born in Alton to parents Penny Jo (Losch) Bodine of Jerseyville and the late Mont Everett Bodine III, Flea passed away at the age of 58 in Godfrey.
He joined the pop-punk group Judge Nothing, which rose to popularity in the mid-’90s, having signed with Chicago-based indie label Thick Records in 1995.
Furthermore, following their performance at clubs and dive bars gave them the popular nickname, The Badfinger of Punk. They released two albums through the same label and collaborated with big artists like Green Day and Joan Jett.
Following the demise of Flea, his bandmate Andy Dykeman said, “We traveled the United States in a stinky van, playing music and creating enough memories and adventures for multiple lifetimes.“
“After the time in the band, we maintained our close relationship. Our wives were close friends, even our dogs,” he further added.
