A student of Santa Clara University, Kephas Pope, met his unfortunate end after suffering life-threatening injuries in a bike accident. His family has demanded justice and swift action against the parties involved.
According to the police reports, Kephas Pope was riding his bicycle when a car collided with a nearby tree, which hit him on the head. The car was in an uncontrollable state due to overspeeding.
The student was on his way to college during the unfortunate accident. He suffered from severe injuries on his head and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical assistants.
Moreover, the sad news about the accident was circulated online by Kephas’ aunt, Hilary Halls Pope, who mentioned that the victim was on his way to a chemistry class. However, his sister claimed that he had been unusually late that day.
As she walked to look around for her brother, she found Kephas’s bike, helmet, and water bottle at the college intersection. The body was transported to the nearest hospital and was later handed to his family.
Additionally, his aunt revealed that Kephas wasn’t at fault in the incident, as the driver had been driving haphazardly near the college area despite the speed limits. Santa Clara University has yet to issue a public statement about the event.
Further, his family wrote, “We are all in shock, but one thing we know is where he is now. He was a godly man who had a beautiful smile and loved the Lord. Kepah had his whole life ahead of him.“
Kepah’s close friends and teachers have sent encouraging words to the grieving family as they go through a devastating period.
Kephas Pope was religious and tried to get people at school to join his faith!
The California native was the oldest son of Nathan Pope and Miao, who instilled religious beliefs in him from a young age. Kephas had an excellent school record and was an inspiration for his younger sister.
Further, he received baptism at a young age, and his father often encouraged him to share his knowledge with his friends. Nathan also supported him during his studies as Kephas planned to finish university soon.
After the accident, Kephas’ family set up a GoFundMe page to raise over $50k, and as of this writing, they have received $5,220. Moreover, his father wrote that the initiative was started to cover funeral charges.
Similarly, Nathan requested the community for support during this challenging period and wants to use the donations to pay the bills as he plans to take time off work to mourn the untimely loss of his son.
Meanwhile, one of Kephas’ teachers expressed her condolence and added, “I’m in the chemistry department at SCU, and this has hit everyone so hard. Such a vibrant, wonderful kid. Prayers for your family.“
In addition, community members and neighbors have mentioned that they are willing to support the family financially and emotionally as they mourn the loss of their cherished family member.
