With great stats on the field, the Herbert Hoover High School team had been dominating the local softball scene, but now they have to grieve for their assistant coach as she passed away too soon.
The heartbreaking news surfaced online on December 4, 2024, as the community gathered to cherish the coach’s memory. They claimed that Jamanda Rollyson had taken her final breath surrounded by her family.
Jamanda Rollyson, a native of Clendenin, West Virginia, had coached the girls’ softball team at Herbert Hoover since 2019.
During her assistance, the team had placed second on the cardinal region among the Chapmanville Regional and Logan.
Further, Rollyson was a cherished team member as her players often gifted her matching bracelets and rings. The deceased motivated the teens to give their best on the field.
Despite the reports of her demise, the actual cause of the incident hasn’t been revealed by Rollyson’s family members.
Moreover, sports pages have credited Rollyson for her impressive career and wrote, “Prayers for our Husky Community and Elk River. She was an amazing person! Prayers for the family also! This has been a rough December already.“
Previously, Rollyson assisted head coach Missy Smith in helping the softball team achieve an undefeated record and back-to-back state championships.
Now, the players remember her as a supportive person who helped them push their limits. They plan to support the deceased’s family through any means possible during this difficult time.

The reports of Rollyson’s demise hit hard for the community, especially her husband, Tyler Moore, and her mother. The late coach had recently married on July 25, 2022.
Moreover, Moore shared a similar career in high school sports coaching before he retired. He currently works at a car dealership in Charleston, West Virginia.
In addition to their career, the couple shared a passion for traveling and watching football matches. Moore often posted game stats on his Facebook, in addition to pictures with his wife.
After Herbert Hoover’s recent match, Rollyson announced her pregnancy with her followers. The coach posed alongside her husband, who was holding an ultrasound picture of the fetus.
Similarly, family members congratulated the pair as they stepped into a new parenthood life. One of their friends wrote, “I’m so excited! You guys will be awesome parents. Enjoy every minute.“
However, Rollyson and her husband were unaware of the unfortunate incident fate had in store for them. Her husband has yet to speak on the matter and maintains a low social media presence.
Meanwhile, the school’s head coach changed her social picture to Rollyson to celebrate their time together on the field. She added that Rollyson can finally rest in peace wherever she is now.
Additionally, Smith wanted to credit her assistant for adding hard work to make the Herbert Hover team an AA State Title Winner in 2022. She mentioned that such an achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the late coach.
