Meg Slezak requested people to keep an eye out for her son Hunter after a horrifying boat accident!

Family members have set up a GoFundMe page to handle essential expenses.

Meg Slezak has urged Facebook users and the Coast Guard team to look after her son, Hunter Slezak after the child was involved in a boat accident on Dauphin Island. The incident unfortunately claimed the life of Meg’s husband, Michael.

On November 29, 2024, Michael left his home with their 7-year-old son for a fishing trip near the island. Michael’s close friend, Sam Wooley, accompanied the duo, and the boat left Billy Goat Hole around 7 a.m.

They traveled in a 20-foot boat, the ‘Marty Ann,’ and were last seen shrimping in Pelican Bay. After failing to communicate, Meg reported her family to the Island’s Coast Guard.

Moreover, an emergency search was initiated through the night and the next day. The Dauphin Island Police reported that they found Michael and Sam unresponsive about 9 miles southwest of their destination.

Investigation authorities received the bodies for an autopsy report after officials discovered a debris field near the victims. Further, the search for the third passenger is ongoing.

Additionally, the Coast Guard stated, “We have air assets that are continuing to search. We had an first-light search this morning. Right now they’re swapping out for a fresh crew to go out and search.

However, officials refused to add to the statement because they didn’t want to reveal much about the case for legal reasons. They argued that misinformation can cause unnecessary delays in the process.

Similarly, the Alabama Department of Marine Resources explained that they would need time to provide proper answers to Meg Slekzar, as they assumed she would receive more tragic news about her son.

Meanwhile, Meg is aware of the unfortunate situation and claims she needs to find closure about her son to let him rest in peace.

Meg Slezak wants people to volunteer their boats or planes for the search!

According to the reports, the guards continued their search for Hunter for over two days according to protocols and ended their search operations after nightfall. Authorities had gathered minimal evidence to locate the child.

Further, Meg detailed that she wanted people to volunteer for the search party as Hunter couldn’t be far away from his late father.

Due to the sensitivity of the matters, she added, “At least being able to find my son’s body is incredibly painful. Momma hold you babies. They could be taken in a blink of an eye. This is the worst pain ever.

Before his demise, Meg’s husband was a Scarborough Model Middle School math teacher and baseball coach in Mobile, Alabama. He had completed his course credit from the Stillman College.

Similarly, Michael worked as a general manager at Champs Sports and later landed a job at Arcos Dorados. In addition to their son, Hunter, the pair has four daughters.

As the investigation proceeded, authorities stated that the reported crash site might be inaccurate. The current likely carried the items a long distance from where the incident occurred.

Moreover, officials have notified the victims’ families to keep calm despite suspending the search operations. The team claimed they covered more than 2,024 square miles of the island.

Additional Information

  • Meg Slezak has appealed to people to contact the voluntary search party or the Sector Mobile Command Center at 833-662-8724 if they notice unusual activities, oil spills, or debris in the water.
  • During the search, the Coast Guards reached Mississippi but couldn’t find substantial evidence to locate Hunter. Meg stated that she plans to hold her son’s and husband’s memorial on the same date.
