After Trump’s win in the 2024 Presidential Election, Annie Dunleavy posted a video on her private Snapchat, which cost her her career. The local teacher has been dismissed from the public school, and further actions are still pending.
Days after the election, Annie Dunleavy, a special education teacher at Champman School K-6 grade, uploaded a video online, sparking political interest. The teacher criticized Trump’s win despite his questionable policies for the next four years in the clip.
Dunleavy started the video by claiming that all groups of people she cares about, including people of color, minorities, and the LGBTQ+ community, will no longer be safe in America after Trump’s win.

Moreover, she referenced people who voted for Trump and claimed that they weren’t safe either. The visibly agitated teacher continued to flame the politician and his supporters, stating, “Just because you won doesn’t mean we don’t remember who the f*ck you voted for.“
Dunleavy detailed that she was ready to encounter anyone with a different point of view and wanted to stay away from them. Further, the teacher threatened people to refrain from communicating with her if they didn’t want to end up on a stretcher.
Similarly, she requested all her Trump-supporting followers remove themselves from her account. Dunleavy claimed she would be blocked by people rather than be associated with the Trump voters.
The clip was recorded by one of her followers and posted on Twitter, where it gained over 87k engagements. The Cheshire Public Schools released a public statement to address Dunleavy’s statements and her position at the school.
Parents of students called the school to remove Annie Dunleavy from the administration!
Soon after the clip began circulating online, parents expressed concerns about Dunleavy’s presence around the students. They detailed that the teacher was unfit for her position and could teach the children the wrong things.
Moreover, the school posted pictures of students of the month, and one user commented, “Imagine if Dunleavy finds out a student or their parents come to school with a MAGA hat! She can’t continue employment in your school. Let us know when she’s fired.“
Another mentioned that the teacher shouldn’t be near special-needs children, who require extra care compared to ordinary schoolchildren. They argued that her anger issues could have severe effects in the classroom.

They pointed out that Dunleavy violated the school’s ethical codes, which prohibit teachers from openly discussing their political ideas. The teacher’s threatening intention in her clip greatly concerned the members.
After considering the case, the Cheshire Public Schools Community released a public statement to address the issue. The school mentioned that Dunleavy’s opinions don’t match the institution’s.
Additionally, the school had been applying necessary laws to investigate the teacher’s intention in posting the video. They added, “It will be impossible to conduct business as usual for our students and staffs without temporarily removing the teacher from the building.“
Apart from the parents, the school had received calls and emails from people outside the Cheshire community, which pressured the institution to take swift action against Dunleavy. The teacher has deactivated her social media accounts in response to the situation.
Similarly, the school requested everyone to let them handle the incident internally as mass involvement affected the education system. They wanted to work for the benefit of their students.
